Rotary WRAPS was started in 1992 as a project to provide new winter outwear
for children in need in the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks public and private
schools. Since it's beginnings it has helped hundreds of children buy new
coats, shoes, undergarments, mittens and scarves.
The funds are raised by the club in an annual raffle of a vehicle. The
proceeds are then used to purchase gift certificates from local merchants that
can only be redeemed for children's clothing. The merchants give the
program $110 of certificates for each $100 we purchase. Over $10,000 of
certificates are distributed annually.
The certificates are distributed by the Parent Education Resource Center
based on recommendations of need made by staff in the school systems.
